Patch It or Fix It?

October 5, 2017   •   Leah McAlpine, James Hoffman

Whenever something gets damaged or stops functioning, we have a choice. Will I just patch it up and hope it works for a while, or will I fix the underlying problem? Patching offers just a temporary solution. Before long, the issue will be back. However, to have a long-term solution, we need to find a way to actually fix the issue.

The same is true for spinal health. Will I see my chiropractor only when something hurts or is “out”, or will I work toward fixing the underlying issue? When you get a chiropractic adjustment, your vertebrae are put back in the right place. This usually relieves the pain for a while, but our muscles tend to pull the spine back out of alignment. Regular chiropractic adjustments help retrain your spine to be correctly aligned, and your muscles learn to hold the vertebrae in their proper place.

If you would like more information about how you can achieve lasting spinal health, please talk to Dr. Hoffman or Dr. McAlpine at your next visit.

Plantar Fasciitis

August 25, 2017   •   James Hoffman

Can Chiropractic help with plantar fasciitis?

Yes, it can!

What is plantar fasciitis?

The plantar fascia is the ligament, or flat band of tissue, which connects your heel bone to your toes. It provides support for the arch of your foot. When this ligament is strained it can become weak, swollen, and irritated. This inflammation is called plantar fasciitis.

What are the common symptoms of plantar fasciitis?

The most common symptom is pain on taking your first steps in the morning. The pain and stiffness typically decreases after that, but can increase as the day goes on.

Who typically gets plantar fasciitis?

Although it typically affects middle-aged people, it can occur in younger people who are on their feet a lot.

How can chiropractic help?

We can adjust your ankles and feet. We can also show you how to stretch the plantar fascia to prevent problems and you how to ice to relieve inflammation that you may be experiencing.

What could happen if I don’t treat my plantar fasciitis?

Untreated plantar fasciitis could lead to bone spurs on the heel or ball of your foot.

Please feel free to talk to Dr. McAlpine or Dr. Hoffman about your questions at your next visit!

Please see the website below for more information about the benefits of massage and what to expect at a massage appointment.

Alpine Chiropractic has a certified massage therapist on site. Debbie sees clients on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Just call our office at 303-920-9486 to schedule an appointment!

Dr. Hoffman Adjusted Roger Daltrey

February 6, 2017   •   Leah McAlpine, James Hoffman

Dr. Hoffman adjusted Roger Daltrey, the founding member of the Who, last March!

Roger has taken excellent care of his health. Dr. Hoffman got to meet Roger in March, 2016 when his tour with The Who brought him to Denver. The rock legend was 72-years young and in great shape! It was clear that chiropractic, healthy eating, taking good supplements, and regular exercise were life-long habits for him. When asked how long he had been getting chiropractic adjustments, he responded: “For 40 or 50 years. I have to have you guys keep me straight!” After his adjustment, he was scheduled for sessions with a reflexologist and a massage therapist. What a great example of taking good care of the gift of life!

Dr. Hoffman and Dr. McAlpine went to the show that evening and were invited backstage afterward. The show was great, with Pete windmilling and Roger still swinging the mike just like the old days. They played straight for almost 3 hours. Not bad for “seniors”!

Rapid Release Technology Is Now Available At Our Office!

March 31, 2017   •   Leah McAlpine, James Hoffman

For many, lack of flexibility or range of motion is caused by scar tissue adhesions. Scar tissue occurs naturally in the body due to injury, surgery, trauma, or repetitive stress. When scar tissue spreads, it can connect tissue not normally connected, which can entrap nerves and limit your range of motion.

Rapid Release is a technology that targets these restrictive adhesions through resonant frequencies. These high-speed vibrations penetrate deep into tissue, targeting the scar-tissue adhesions, releasing tension and tightness.

If you think this technology might be helpful to you, please talk to either Dr. McAlpine or Dr. Hoffman about the possibility of adding it to your therapy regimen.
